Cortney Warsh is Clinical Director for Sunrise Detox in Fort Lauderdale. As Clinical Director, Cortney leads the clinical staff of the detox center, nurtures staff development, and ensures that state-of-the-art services are
delivered with the utmost levels of dignity, respect, and confidence expected from the Sunrise "Detox with Dignity" service model.
A New Yorker educated in California and trained professionally in Florida, Cortney holds both Bachelor and Masters degrees in Psychology. She rose through the ranks at Sunrise Detox, working as a detox technician, an Admissions
Specialist, and Counselor, before assuming the responsibilities of Clinical Director in Ft. Lauderdale.

Morgan Poncy, M.D., Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Morgan Poncy is Chief Medical Officer for Sunrise Detox in Florida, and co-Founder of Sunrise Detox Corporation. Dr. Poncy is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine.
Dr. Poncy completed his internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. While continuing his private practice, he co-founded Sunrise Detox in 2004 with Jeffrey Gorin. Seeing the need for a private inpatient
detox, Dr. Poncy became one of the first physicians in South Florida licensed to administer Suboxone. He has become a recognized resource among his peers for his in-depth understanding of this revolutionary medication,
and for his dedication to treating patients with addictions.
Dr. Yodashkin, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Yodashkin is Medical Director for Sunrise Detox Lake Worth. He is Board Certified in internal and addiction medicine, a fellow in the American Society of Addiction Medicine and a Certified Medical Review Officer. Born in
Lithuania, he came to the United States in 1974 to pursue a career in medicine, eventually specializing in addiction treatment.
During his internship and residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in New York, he began his concentration on addiction medicine and addiction treatment. Since 1978, Dr. Yodashkin has been treating struggling addicts, helping them
have a successful journey to their recovery.
James Karwoski, BSN, RN-BC, Director of Nursing
James Karwoski is the Director of Nursing at Sunrise Detox Fort Lauderdale. A native of Philadelphia and graduate of Widener University, he is Board Certified in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing and has over 34 years of
James supervises the 24-hour on-site nursing and nursing support staff for the medical detox center, keeping guests safe and comfortable while in treatment. A big fan of the family culture that exists among the staff at Sunrise
Detox, James believes that warmth is passed along to the guests, who benefit from the supportive environment while in treatment.
Priscilla Berardo, Ed.S., MS, NBCC, Counselor
Counselor Priscilla Berardo joined Sunrise Detox in the summer of 2016. She holds a Masters Degree in Mental Health from Florida State University, with a Specialist degree in Education. Prior to joining Sunrise, Priscilla worked
as an Admissions Coordinator at an inpatient substance abuse treatment center, and then as a Substance Abuse Counselor, counseling individuals and families on mental health issues involving both children and adults.
Priscilla favors modern evidence-based treatment methods including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy and 12-Step programs for many people who are likely to benefit from
Kristi Lawson, BA, Service Director
Kristi Lawson is the Service Director at Sunrise Detox Center Ft. Lauderdale. A graduate of nearby Florida Atlantic University (BA in Arts and Humanities), Kristi started working in the addictions field as a detox technician
As Service Director, Kristi oversees the operations of the facility, including delivery of patient care and staffing. In her role, Kristi facilitates communications between multiple organizations, agencies, and the detox center,
to ensure patients are getting the best possible care, and to make the transition into recovery as easy as possible.
A scrupulous hard worker who loves her job, Kristi is known for direct, honest approach.
William Long, Admissions Counselor
William Long is an Admissions Specialist at Sunrise Detox Ft. Lauderdale. With 5 years of experience in the treatment industry, William helps incoming guests navigate the paperwork and admissions process, and helps them prepare
for a successful stay in the detox center.
Working with the guest and members of the treatment team, William helps develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient, with specific, individual goals that can be achieved under the plan.
Amanda Edmunds, Tech Supervisor
Amanda Edmunds serves as both Administrative Assistant and Tech Supervisor for Sunrise Detox Ft. Lauderdale. As Tech Supervisor, Amanda is in constant contact with clients inside the detox center, providing and arranging for
full support to each individual. She helps the nursing and clinical staff with delivery of all necessary services and provides the treatment team with the real-time patient information essential for the renowned Sunrise
Detox "Detox with Dignity" program.
As a most valuable member of the treatment team, Amanda makes a positive difference in many lives, every single day. She considers that a wonderful reward for her dedication to a career in addiction treatment.
Ira Levy, Marketing Director
Ira Levy is officially Sunrise Ft. Lauderdale’s Marketing Director, but he has been called “The Mayor of Sunrise” because of his commitment to the community. Ira helps refer patients to treatment centers and interacts with
patients. Ira brings sincere wisdom to the detox environment, and always seems to be there when he’s needed. Sometimes he seems to be everywhere at once!
Ira began his addiction treatment career in 1992 as a mental health technician. He was Admission Coordinator for National Recovery Institute, and National Marketing Director for Focus Health Care, overseeing four hospitals
in several states. After leaving Focus he consulted for several treatment centers and joined Sunrise in 2004. With his experience working for and with numerous treatment centers all around the country, Ira is a valuable
resource for everyone at Sunrise.
